Gammadda delivers clean drinking water to Weherayaya

Weherayaya is a small village in Wellawaya, Sri Lanka. The village is situated in a beautiful area, surrounded by lush green hills and serene landscapes. However, beneath this beauty lies a stark reality - the villagers' daily struggles with poverty and limited resources. Many villagers do not have access to clean drinking water, and they rely on dirty water from the river or wells for their daily needs. This water is often contaminated with bacteria and parasites, which can cause serious health problems.

In an effort to improve the lives of the people of Weherayaya, the Gammadda has taken the initiative to lay the foundation stone for a new water purification system (RO) to provide clean drinking water to the community on 06th April 2024. This effort marks a turning point in the lives of the villagers, promising a future where clean water is not just a luxury but a basic necessity.

For the 120 students of Weherayaya School, the lack of access to clean water exacerbates the hardships they face in their daily lives. Without clean drinking water, their education and overall well-being are compromised. The initiative to provide clean water to the school, spearheaded by Gammadda, not only addresses a fundamental need but also paves the way for a brighter future for the entire community.

This project will made a success with the financial support of Professor Parakum Ovitigala.
